So a few days ago I got an alert that the US Dept of Education added two tradelines to my credit file across all CBs. It did have an odd comment related to 'natural disaster' but have no clue what that is referencing.
I was both SHOCKED & SURPRISED. Evidently it was for two student loans i had 25 years ago. Evidently there is like a $200 balance, undoubtedly from interest I didn't know I owed. There's been no invoices or comms since then. The good news is that they were both reported positively; with original loan amount and remaining balance. No late payments at all. Well what it did do was add 12 years to my 'length of credit' (which was already excellent) and gave me an unexpected and pleasant 15 point gain.
Now I gotta figure out how to pay that $200 balance before they decide to mark it as late........
Woohoo.......I'll take the extra point!
