Several years ago my Cap One card expired and I never got a new one. When I called customer service to ask about it, they said it had been mailed to me, but instead of sending it to my current address in Missouri, they had sent it to XXXX X XTh St, XXXXXX, CO, which I have no connection to and have never lived there nor do I know anyone that lives in Colorado. There wasn't any fraudulent use of the card they sent out, but they corrected the address and sent me a new one. Later I found that address on all three agencies' credit reports. I was able to get it removed from TU and EX but to this day it still shows as a previous address on EQ since I wasn't able to get them to remove it by challenging it with their online tools.
My question is does this matter or should I just ignore it? Also, how do you think this happened? Just a screw-up or something malicious?
[MOD EDIT: address changed for online safety, even though you have no connection to it]
Probably listed as a previuos address you lived at with that account. You did move. I have a couple that are over 20 yrs old. But its tied to an account. Not hurting anything. Lexus/Nexis probably has the same thing.
