I came out of the garden after 7 months to get a personal loan of $5,000 to pay off some of my credit card debt and consolidate it into a small monthly payment. I was having a bit of trouble knocking down some of my larger balances. Besides that, I am looking to purchase my first car in the next few months and have no prior loan history, so this seemed like a win-win. I checked several other lending companies, including Prosper and Avant and was either unable to get pre-approved or was pre-approved at a rate of 15-20% or more.
Upstart pre-approved me at 10 or 12 percent (I can't find the numbers anywhere) but after sending all of my documents over they lowered it to an APR of 9.01%.
