What do I do if my state's SOL is 6 years but this debt still shows on my CR?

Does anyone know how to deal with an account that's been charged-off? The CR states that "Credit line closed-grantor request-reported by subscriber", and also, the acct Type:Credit Card - Revolving Terms and acct Status:Closed. I live in NY where the SOL is 6 years. Do I dispute, do I settle, do I ignore? I have few like this one on my CR and I am trying to clean up my history, but don't know where to startSmiley Sad

If it's a paid charge-off or paid collection, NYS statute varies from many other states.  Try this thread for information that you may find very valuable:  http://ficoforums.myfico.com/fico/board/message?board.id=generalcredit&thread.id=81515
