What must be reported?

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the credit forum world so please excuse me if I am asking a silly question.  I have been reading tons of articles and visited numerous web sites in search of requirements for reporters of credit information but thus far have only found generalized information.  Although I had numerous credit problems 5-7 years ago, I  am compulsive about making sure the information supplied to the CB's is accurate.  What I see on my credit reports is a number of accounts without a DLA or DOFD.  Most only have the date opened and the date reported.  Are suppliers of information required to include this information?

A second question regarding disputing information.  I understand most places these days simply use an automated system to verify credit information during a dispute.  Which, most of the time simply verifies that the information on the two computer systems (ie bank and credit bureau) match.  Is there anything I can do about it?  I tried contacting the creditor directly (Verizon) and they barely were even able to pull up the account let alone change information being reported.

Last question but similar to the second, what can you do when disputes continue to be verified when they are inaccurate?  Is there a strategy with the credit bureaus that works?  I do not mind the information being on my reports as I know I made some mistakes in the past, but I want the information to be exact and accurate which it is not.  Sorry for the long post.

Re: What must be reported?

DOFD must be included on delinquent accounts.

If you can't get nothing resolved doing a dispute with the CRA, you can file a dispute directly with the furnisher of the information or file a complaint with the BBB or your AG.

Where are you getting your reports?

Re: What must be reported?

I get all of my reports directly from the 3 CRA sites.  I have tried to dispute with the creditor directly but have not had anything resolved.  I have hesitated to write a harsh threatening letter to the CBA's or the creditor but I'm getting close to that point.  I get frustrated with the CB's because most of the time I get the feeling they simply blow off a true investigation and simply say the information is verified and remains.  I suspect most verifications, especially with creditors like Verizon and major credit cards are done electronically and a human being is not involved.  Which as I stated earlier, means the computers mearly compare information and verify that it is the same as opposed to supplier actually verifying that the information they are putting on the computer is accurate.

Re: What must be reported?

Just some general comments for your information:

1.  Alot of your legal rights are not available until you dispute with the CRA's.  Disputing with the OC is useless in this regard.

2.  Alot of people disagree, but it has worked for me is the first dispute is file online or by phone to the CRA's.

Send CRMM letter to furnisher.  Second dispute send letter to CRA and to furnisher.  Send third dispute by letter to both.

3.  Learn how to file and litigate a court case in Federal Court.  Have filed 3 and won 3.

I'm sorry but I do not know what a CRMM letter is.  Could you elaborate?
