What's with the Cable company pulling credit?!

You HAVE to be kidding me, my cable company pulled a HARD for f'ing cable!

I even asked the girl, for cable surely this is a soft inq, and she quickly chimed back yes just a soft.

I know this isn't credit cards but it will effect me in getting credit cards so I put it here.

Anyone heard of such a thing before? I'm disputing it to the hills!

It's bizarre, I know! My dad just ordered new landline service with Verizion, and they did a hard pull on his Experian report. I guess it's an easier way to report the account should it become delinquent.

I once had a credit pull for bottle water delivery. I personally think if anyone and there mother can place hard pulls on your credit for the smallest of things that really are not credit based, then inq shouldn't count against you.

Yep, happens all the time.  I got a hard pull from the gas utility, Nicor, in Chicago when I moved their temporarily for my company in 2002 and it's still sitting on my file even though I lived there only from Dec 2002 - Jan 2004.  Still counts as one of my 21 accounts on my file.

I agree! Most utilities are month to month based; not a contract.

I never had a cable company to pull my credit report.  But, I have had a utility company to make a hard pull on my EQ report.  It stayed there for two years.  I wish FICO wouldn't count those type of inquiries.

I'm waiting for my disputes with my car to be resolved before pulling my reports again, when I do though I plan on disputing the pull... in addition I'm a current customer who is just moving

They shouldn't have to make any additional credit inquiries.  All they need do is transfer your services to your new crib.

One of the reasons to stay in the same crib for at least 2 years.  It's all relative to FICO scoring.
