When does a Bankruptcy (Chapter 7) fall off the credit report? I know it stays on the report for 10 years, but is that from when I filed bankruptcy (Feb. 2002) or when it was discharged (4 month later, Jun. 2002).
Also, should all accounts and cards reported match over all three reports? I haven't looked at it in details in a while, but I think there is some discrepancy between the three reports. Nothing negative but I have a couple accounts and cards that don't show up on all the reports.
I just ordered my free annual credit report from all three companies. Since FICO score is a bit pricey, i'm saving that one for when any prolems (if there are any) are fixed and my bankruptcy has fallen off.
Welcome!
A Chapter 7 BK will come off of your reports 10 years after you filed it. As for your other questions, I'll let others chime-in who might know more than me.
Exclusion of a Title 11 BK or under the BK Act begins 10 years after "the date of entry of the order for relief or the date of adjudication, as the case may be."
FCRA 605(a)(1).
Reports between the CRAs are rarely identical. A party does not have to initially report to a CRA.
However, once they do report, they are therafter required to maintain the accuracy of information previously reported.
So if the differences go to the same information that was previously reported to each, then yes, they are required to update each with the same accurate information.
