When does a new CC show on credit report?

I fairly recently got another Quicksilver and a card from Elan around the same time.  I didn't use any of them until 2-months after getting them and they only recently (last 3-4 weeks) started showing up on my credit reports.  I think in the short-term putting a charge on them can expedite them reporting balances, and therefore showing up on your credit report.  This is just my experience though.

Quickest card I have ever seen report: 

Shell by Citibank. 

It literally hit my credit reports the very next day after my approval and at least 2 weeks before I actually got the card and was able to even buy gas!
