Which Score/Agency Does Capital One Use?

@IaBoy62, specifically, which scores can you access that fall into the range you cite?

It's very possible that Capital One used the classic Experian verison of FICO 04, aka Experian FICO Score 3. According to the many flavors of FICO thread, this score has a "real world" range of 325–850, which matches your description. It's obscure enough that myFICO doesn't include it in its 28-score package.

The only Experian score from that family provided by myFICO is the bankcard version. Unlike most bankcard scores, this one officially ranges from 300 to 850. It's possible that Capital One could be using this score, but I'd bet on the other one mentioned above.

@HeavenOhio by gosh it does match my FICO 3 score.....I don't include that score on my credit scores spreadsheet because I didn't think anybody in the world used it and I totally ignore it when I get my new reports and scores from my FICO...my bad!  thanks for pointing that out because I was driving myself crazy trying to figure out where they got that 624!

Experian 04 is definitely a strange one. The range of 300–850 (rather than 250–900) is unique among industry enhanced scores. Along with that, it's the only score of mine that actually increased when all of my cards reported balances of zero. I wonder if oddities like these are behind the fact that we don't see it used a lot and that the older Experian 98 score is used for mortgages.

Tonight I used the CapOne pre-qualify tool and was told they used EQ. I'm aware it was a SP only.
