I received this letter today from a company called Debt Recovery Solutions. I have no recollection of this account (I think it's something very old) nor is it on my credit report. I'm not sure which letters I need to send.
This is what it reads:
Your account was acquired by Debt Recovery Solutions through a purchase of various delinquent receivables from GE CAPITAL CORP.. All communications, correspondence and payments on this account should be directed to this office. This initial letter is the beginning of our collection process designed to impress upon you the importance of resolving this long - standing debt. This delinquency is an issue that you should review very carefully since planning for the future can often be affected by your past activities.
Unless you notify this office within 30 days after receiving this notice that you dispute the validity of this debt or any portion thereof, this office will assume this debt is valid. If you notify this office of any dispute in writing within 30 days after receiving this notice, this office will obtain verification of the debt or obtain a copy of a judgment and mail you a copy of such verification or judgment. If you request this office in writing within 30 days of receiving this notice, this office will provide you with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor.
Mail them a DV CMRRR. Also keep in mind that they can NOT add several accounts together and count them as 1 debt.
