I don't think anyone else mentioned this so I will, never close an acct. if there is a balance due. When you close it there is no reason for the creditor to report. I should amend that to say that the creditor at no time has an obligation to report to a CRA, but they do usually when it's active.
Typically if you close an acct the creditor will change the credit limit to zero. But you still have $1,300 in CC debt. See the problem?
