Re: Why isn't, "Credit" taught in school?

I step back and wonder at my own stumbling journey, as well as the hundreds of people who post on this board, daily. I took Home Economics in middle school, but as far as I can remember, Credit, broadly speaking wasn't covered. Maybe because, you're not really eligible for credit until you turn 18?

To be fair, US schools (at least the public ones) don't really teach language, math or sciences either. The United States is becoming the Dunning-Kruger example for the rest of the world.

When I was younger, I saw school's purpose was to teach academic subjects and impart academic and critical thinking skills; the home, and therefore parents, were responsible for teaching life skills such as credit and generally how to adult. There is some crossover with things like Driver's Ed and Home Economics. Schools taught you how to think independently and home taught you how to live independently.

I would say the more likely reason is that credit, at least how we think of it today, is a relatively new concept and our education system adjusts in geologic time. It can take decades after something becomes a thing for it to make its way in any form into schools. I actually wonder how many science books in schools today still say there's 9 planets.
