I opened a new card about a month ago then I noticed it's hurting my average length of credit. If I closed it (no balance), will that increase my length of credit history? It only has a $300 limit and my utilization is currently around 13% so I don't need it for those purposes.
Thank you
Damage is done.
If no annual fee, I would leave it open.
Closing a credit card is an action that prevents further charges being made on the card.
It does not delete the account from your credit report, or remove it from scoring.
If you wish the account to additionally be deleted, contact the credtior and ask that they report deletion.
It is voluntary on their part, but they might agree.......

No it will continue to be factored into your average age of accounts, so nothing is gained by closing it.

It’s too late. The account has already opened and reported. If you can use the card, just keep it open. If not, close it down.
