Re: Yay!! I did it-I'm in!!!!

Hopefully so, Timothy.  I really appreciated your responses to some of my posts-along with Brammy, haulingthescoreup, and others on here-THANK YOU!!.  I'm really amazed at what I've accomplished in these last 6 months.  I'm not done-I've got a little more to do-but at least I know how to go about it. Smiley Happy

Re: Yay!! I did it-I'm in!!!!

GW'ing like crazy, pattycake, and disputing like mad!  I was amazed at all the erroneous things on my credit reports-collection that didn't belong to me, incorrect addresses, etc.  Getting CLI's have really helped me, since I don't really have the money to pay down my debt like I'd like to (since June, I've gone from 91% to 58%-not bad!).

I plan to keep paying down my debt, maybe trying to see if AmEx will report a closed, but good, TL to all 3 CRA's, and to keep send GW's to the ones that have told me no.  It would be nice if I could get AmEx to reopen that TL!. Smiley Tongue

Good luck with your GW's.Smiley Happy  Don't give up or take no for an answer!

Re: Yay!! I did it-I'm in!!!!

I can't figure out why so much discrepancy b/n the scores...  I want ALL in the 700s.  My scores:  TU: 672 EQ: 742 EX: 686.  Other scores listed seem to be more level?  I just put both credit cards on auto pay and plan to reduce my 57% down to 5% in 9 months...  If that doesn't put me in the mid-700s nothing will!  Thx for the inspiration.  Smiley Tongue

Re: Yay!! I did it-I'm in!!!!

hey honeybrook. I have high util but am in a position to pay them down and was gonna do it over the course of the next 5 months but a CLI would help greatly. I have:

Chase: $1000/$1100
Capital One MC: $700/$750
Capital One Visa: $700/$750
CitiCard: $1400/$1500

Citicard just gave me a CLI from $1000 to $1500 and I used it to go see family for Thanksgiving etc. So mad at myself Smiley Mad. Not too mad though. So I guess I can't ask them. Also Chase opened mid August 07. Guess it's too soon. Have you had luck getting Crapital One to show Luv? Do they take your current high util into consideration? Do they do a hard pull? Do they take your amount of hard pulls on your CRs into consideration (I was trying to get a car and they pulled 8 times for seveeral banks on the same car and it shows 8 in SW but says FICO only counts it once in their disclaimer)? SO MANY QUESTIONS! AHH!

Re: Yay!! I did it-I'm in!!!!

berraco58,

Once you start paying down those balances, you will really see some increase in your scores.  I've been lucky to have a couple of my cards-like JC Penney and Citi-give me automatic CLI's.  Others like Orchard and Household Bank, I called and asked for.  They charged me $15 and $20, respectively, but I called both to ask them to waive the fees (they both offered me half back).  My Target Red Card converted to a Visa in July-went from $200 to $1000, which was great!  I called the other day to see if I could get another increase-the guy told me that I had to wait a full 6 months and make sure I keep paying more than the minimum due.  I also called for a Macy's CLI-now $500 instead of $400.  I've had this one for a little over a year, but I hardly use it.  The guy said that Macy's will increase me based on how much I spend, so I guess it's time for me to go shopping!Smiley Happy

Everyone I asked, I made sure that I asked, then asked them to reverify for me, that I would only receive soft pulls, not hard.  One card lied to me-Express-and gave me a hard anyway.  Thanks to TC, I found this out and called the next day.  Had to call again 4 days later and speak with a different supervisor, but it's finally been recoded as a soft.

Crapital One did finally remove all of my late payments and started reporting my balance, so I guess I can go back to calling them Capital One now.Smiley Very Happy  Haven't asked them for a CLI yet.

Re: Yay!! I did it-I'm in!!!!

Yeah I forgot to mention another Revolving Account that I have at a lower Util. I have a Dell account at at $850 balance on a $2k limit. Honestly my CCs aren't out of control. I just thought, "Who cares if I revolve the debt rather than pay it in full." I mean, the CCCs are just getting richer off of me doing this and I am leaving myself with more liquidity if anything were to happen. Of course, now I know that they want me to spend money and make them some interest but they also want to see that I can payback whatever they lend me. Well the jokes on them, the balances will be going down drastically over the next 5 months. Smiley Very Happy

As for Crapital One, I decided to take a more proactive approach. I called them and asked them, what in my profile would keep me from getting a CLI. The guy told me, "I see where you have never gone over your limit and you have always made your minimum payments if not more. But Mr. (Berraco58), have you ever paid in full? At (Crapital) One, we don't have CLI requests. We are a very conservative lender and do all our CLI automatically. I am sure that if you were to pay in full at least once, that you should see a CLI. If not then please call and tell us that you have good history and have even paid in full so why haven't you received a CLI."

He pretty much told me that my never having paid in full ... EVER ... was what was keeping me from getting a CLI. Interesting. Looking forward to it. Kinda makes me wanna pay that one off first since its pretty low (compared).
