amex

i got an amex blue that opened with original credit of $2000, the balance is $881 but they keep changing the credit limit down keeping the UTIL high.  The credit limit has been 2000, 1800, 1500, now 1200.  I have never missed a payment and making larger payments to get this down to zero balance.  I asked so they said the limit is based on credit scores but my score are going up.  WTF!

the way im looking at it is: 881/2000=44% util. ...........     881/1200=73% util

Another thing, I did a balance transfer to amex at 3.99 percent with a balance now at about $144. I made purchases with the card at APR 18% plus with a balance at about $720.  I found out that the large payments i been making is applied to the 3.99 percent balance first leaving the larger balance to draw fin. charges.  WTF!

What am I missing? what should i do?

should I invest in some lube so it doesnt hurt so much?

Re: amex

They always pay-off the balance transfer first. You should really call them again to see what is your actual credit limit. If they are changing it, this would make it impossible for you not to exceed the credit limit. If you are looking at it on-line then you credit limit is bound to change. Why I do not know. However, make note that it could be because you charge something and the amount was deducted from your total cl and has not shown up as recent activity. I do not think it has anything to do with your credit score. Because the cl should already be set. But the intrest rate may change if is a varaible rate

Re: amex

I have not used the card in almost a year. Actually i put it  up not to use it in a place where i wont lose it but now i cant find it.  i check online and  no one has tried to use it. the only charges each month are finance charges by amex. i  will call a gain to see if they are willing to work with me. Ideal, I want them to give me a 2500 limit and leave it at that.   They did say that the cl is based on my fico score.

Re: amex

Make sure that our EX score is good, that's who gets checked for CLI's.
