chase checking direct deposit ?

When opening a chase toral checking account, there are a few coupons that give you 100$ + bonuses when you make a dirext deposit. Does direct deposit only mean a deposit from your current employer or company. Am I unable to deposit money myself ? from a different checking account ?

Direct deposits are characterized as funds received via ACH from employment, government (SSI, SDI) etc. Ddlosits from you to you would not qualify.

I heard PayPal shows up as direct deposit, YMMV though, I'm Thinking about to opening one too.

This varies widely with the bank. Sometimes an ACH transfer will satisfy direct deposit requirements.

DepositAccounts.com is one source of information on this sort of issue, and a Google search is another.

Not sure on PP, but I can confirm I was able to open an account with a monthly transfer from a different checking account (at my CU) which qualified for the bonus.
