collection account paid

Hi guys..question..I have  collection account that was paid. It was for a check that was written to Winn Dixie in the amount of $26.00. Should I send a Pfd to see if I can have this removed? Please advise..I just pulled my equifax CR and my true fico for Equifax is 463. I will not be able to pull the other until Monday..I need help!

Hi it doesn't show who I paid to, but I know that I paid it..It says not on record.

You wouldn't offer a PFD if you have already paid.  You don't remember if you settled with Winn Dixie or with the CA?  How long ago was this?

If you paid it to the Store and not to the CA- I would just dispute it.

Actually I would dispute it even if I paid it to the CA.

If that fails a GW letter to the store and or the CA.

It was settled with the collection agency, but I can't remember the name of the collection agency..This was paid in 2005.

Ok if this is paid and the derog with the CA does not list the name of the CA, I as well would dispute as 'not mine'.  You don't know if this is the CA that you had paid to or why it is showing unpaid.  For all you do know it could be an error with a completely different CA.  If it updates and shows the CA that you recall and shows paid, then GW it unless the check that bounced originally to Winn Dixie was dated prior to this date in 2007.  In that case, it would be disputed again as too old to report.

You should be able to log onto wherever you pulled the EQ from and dispute online immediately.
