collection deleted!! (+51) can i get a CC yet??

okay people, take my advice, dont waste time mailing in disputes to the credit bureaus. FAX them. i have a feeling that had i waited around like a patient gal for a collection to be deleted, it would've taken another 2 months. but yesterday i FAXED the information to all three and as of today equifax has deleted. thats a ONE DAY turnover!!

question #1:  i cannot afford to buy experian and tu scores right now. can i assume that all three would jump the same amount of points???

question #2:  if i CAN assume that, i would now then have the following scores:

TU: 663
EQ: 632 (yuck)
EX: 687

should i continue pushing to delete some more baddies(macys) and wait to apply for a CC?
i do NOT want to waste inquiries if i wont be approved, and i do NOT want to deal with any annual fees or crappy credit lines.  i want to ENHANCE my credit. not worsen it.

payment history is : good
amount of debt is : bad (school loans, thats IT)
length of credit history: not good (my FIRST revolving account, banana republic, was started two years ago. my only cc's are banana republic and macys)
amount of new credit: very good

whats my best plan of action? i have two baddies from macys (sent GW letter weeks ago) and a LOT of baddies from a closed car loan (which i am thinking of disputing with the three bureaus)

should i keep waiting? i know for a fact that BOA still isnt preapproving me for anything.

I am sure you would see a boost on all 3, but do you know for sure all 3 has deleted?

I would keep working on the baddies before applying for any new credit. You stand a better chance at approval with a clean report.

This will sound rough but it you can't afford the 11-15 dollars to pull a report, you might not want to get new credit right now.  If you get a card adn go high on utilizaiton, your score will tank big time ... I'm not judging, just offering some friendly advice ...

11-15? its 30 bucks for 2 scores. i appreciate the thought but thankfully i am not poor. i just simply dont desire to throw out 30 bucks if my score hasnt been updated yet ...and then having to pay more again the next week. i apologize for being smart with what i currently have and not treating it like 'oh its just 50 bucks for curiosity..whatever..'....   im trying not to take offense, but that was a teeeny bit offensive. Smiley Happy

I didn't mean to sound like a jerk. I also would wait to pull reports until I knew for sure the other 2 have updated. (But, I have been known to have no patience)

With the new cc's, IF you are almost finished working on the baddies, I do advise waiting. You don't want to fill up your reports with wasted inquiry's. That alone can get you a decline, even with perfect scores. If you jump the gun like me, then you may wind up with small CL's. If I had waited (again, no patience) I would possibly have some better limits than I do now.

Re: collection deleted!! (+51) can i get a CC yet??

I was going to say the same thing as CT.  Not to be taken the wrong way.  Just when I read the "I cant afford.."  It sounded as you were really in financial hardships  and opening a CC would be the least of importance.  After reading your repost,  I completely understand not wanting to throw $30 out the window in order to see if scores jumped.

Sometimes when writing email, post etc. Its easy to be misinterpreted from original intent.  Again, I completely know what you mean now.

Yup, that's what I read and I thought the same thing -- save your money and buy groceries !!  I'm super glad to see that's not the case and OP doesn't want to pay the $$ ... I totally get that!

I'm not sure if this is ok to post or not but if you google fico codes, you get interesting information.

Re: collection deleted!! (+51) can i get a CC yet??

First off congrats on the deletion.

Secondly, continue to work on the baddies.  Macy's is one of the easier ones to work with.

If you don't need credit right now, I would say hold off on applying.  Use what you have now wisely and take care of the flags on the reports.

If you need a new CC I would see what cards you can get pre-approval on and pick the best one.  Apply for that when you have taken care of the flags and then let the accounts and score age.  Then when your score is where you want it to be grab a couple of prime cards then end the madness and garden.

I agree with you. At one point I was spending upward of $80.00 a month just for CR and updates. That does not include the scores. Since I was trying to save money I decided to go with one program until more things happen credit and repair wise. Now it is $15.00 a month. When I feel what has happened has made a significant plus, I will buy the scores.
