credit karma

I, like a lot of us, go to credit karma once in a while just to see what it says. What I found interesting is that it correctly states my revolving balance. I recently paid everything down to zero except one account which I left $1 on. That what it says is I have $1 of revolving balance. But, here at MYFICO I have not been alerted to some of the accounts being paid to zero or any score watch alerts showing an increase since I paid my utilization from 75% to less than 1%. I pulled a Tranunion report and in fact the accounts have not been updated with my payments. So, how can credit karma have my revolving balances correct and the myfico reports not be updated yet?

Score Watch® doesn't alert you to balance *decreases*, but you can get alerts for balance *increases*. It'll also alert you when you reach your "Target Score", so always be sure to set your target score to your current score. That way, changes to the current score will trigger an alert. When a score change happens, reset your target score, again, for the current score.

What date did you pull your reports at kredit karma?

What date did you pull your Transunion report? Where did you pull your Transunion report from?

Re: credit karma

Thank you for the reply. I pulled credit karma on 3/2 when I saw they had my revolving credit balance correct I came here to myfico and pulled my Transunion. The report here at myfico did not reflect the correct balance that I saw on credit karma. Don't get me wrong I think credit karma is worthless for the most part but I check them to see stuff like this and if they have the information correct I would think I can come here and my reports should be accurate when I am paying for them.

Anyways, I do keep my target score set at my current score. I guess I will give it a couple of weeks and check my reports again. I just was wondering how credit karma can report my correct revolving balance yet the balances are not correct when I buy the reports here. How can credit karma see information that is not being reflected on reports pulled here?

Re: credit karma

Interestingly enough I just received a scorewatch alert this morning. I got a 12 point increase because one of the cards I paid off reported. I am waiting on two more accounts to report. Hopefully I will see as much or more points for each.

Re: credit karma

I read in the Credit Karma terms and conditions that they give your information to their partners to make offers of their products and services.  Does this mean that their partners can make inquiries on your credit report?  I was interested in their credit monitoring just to see if some things dropped off in July when they were supposed to.  But I don't want to have too many inquiries on my report when we actually start shopping for a mortgage.

CreditKarma will pull a soft. What they probably mean is that they'll pass your info to to their partners and based off that info, those partners could choose to offer you credit. Also, I recall my CC suggestions changing based on my FAKO there. IIRC, can't you apply for credit via their partners? It could also mean that too (though I bet that'll result in a hard inquiry). I've been with them for 2-3 yrs now and never have seen any hard or soft inquiries from their partners, and only softs from Credit KArma.

Re: credit karma

Thanks for your info!  I decided to try it.  My score was 659.  I have a $500 credit limit and it shows my credit card balance is $1000 but I checked my actual CC account and we are no where near that.  So that's odd.   The only other thing it shows is a satisfied judgement.  I have had 2 satisfied judgements, one should have fallen off in July so that looks accurate.

Credit Karma is based off your TRANS UNION reports. The information it recieves is from Trans Union.
