I believe that it depends on which bureau the companies use the most. If their primary reporting agency is for example TU then that one will be updated each month. Anytime I obtain new credit or call my credit card companies. I ask how often do they report to the credit bureaus this information can change so ask them periodically. When I apply I ask which credit bureau do they get their information from and immediately I know what my score is from that agency....
This is valuable information. As I always state credit is about strategy and ANYTHING that will help you that is what you do short of letting someone be on your account as a joint account.
I have a neiman marcus account who use to report every 60 days. I would pay them after 30 days but before day number 59. For almost 3 or 4 years I would practice this faithfully without a late fee. I've had this account for over 12 years.
One day I noticed a late fee on my account I immediately knew from that of course that they had someone else managing their accounts or common sense would tell me that something has changed..and I was right. they switched to HSBC managing their accounts and I was disgusted.( I don't like HSBC) They report to the credit bureaus every 30 days now so guess what despite all of this I continue to have a perfect history with neiman marcus but now I will not wait anytime to pay my debt..becuase don't want a late fee and don't want anything to report on my credit. By the way they reversed the late fee.
