experian updates?

i have been disputing a certain account with EX for months now. i wrote a GW to VW Credit and although their response was "we can't delete accurate information. it's against the law" the late payments were removed from my TU and EQ.
i disputed the lates with EX since they were the only ones not updating the account, and they sent me a letter saying that they already investigated and verified the account info. they investigated in may 2006. it's now almost september 2007.

anyway, to make a long story short, i wrote another letter to EX and basically said that yes, it's nice that they investigated, but the information is over a year old and they need to reinvestigate in order to update the info to reflect the current accurate info (i.e. no lates).

what do you guys think my chances are that EX will actually read my letter and reinvestigate?
i think i have a valid point, per the FCRA, that the last investigation was over a year ago and i have a right to ask for another investigation since the information they list is no longer accurate.

many thanks for your advice!

Re: experian updates?

what was your account history like before your GW with Vw? how many lates? what was your worst delinquency? how long was your account current before sending a GW letter?

I was thinking about doing this with Audi, but think it would be pointless. i have a horrible experience with them.

Re: experian updates?

this was a joint account. i was the co-signer (worst mistake EVER), so i was legally responsible for this account as much as the owner of the actual car.
there were 13 lates on this account...the worst was 90 days.  it was mostly 30day lates.  the account was closed in 2004.
in my GW letter i explained that the lates were the fault of the primary account owner...i asked VW to look at my credit history to see that i have NO lates on any other account, ever.

although they sent me that generic response, the lates "magically" disappeared from EQ and TU.  i was just waiting for them to disappear from EX, but we all know how ridiculous EX is once you dispute the account once and they later don't want to go back to correct the information if they already checked it.

Re: experian updates?

i thought i would post an update to this, it might help others.
i wrote to EX 3 times asking them to reinvestigate the lates on the VW account.  i got the same "canned" reply saying that it was investigated already (yeah, back in 2005) and they won't do it again unless i provide them with new information.
so i got extremely irritated when i received the latest reply and wrote yet another letter but this time emailed AND faxed it to that lee lundy person at the fax number i found in a different post on this forum.  surprise surprise....someone CALLED me this afternoon from EX and actually said that she will contact VW Credit TODAY to reinvestigate this claim.  i did not catch the woman's name, unfortunately, but she was very pleasant with me and apologized for EX not doing this before.  hopefully my lates will disappear from EX just like they did from the other CRs, but hey...at least someone replied to my fax/email and i didn't get the standard response for the 4th time.

Re: experian updates?

sure, no prob.  i'm just relaying info given in another post some time ago.

Experian fax: (972) 390-3838
(the funny thing is that when i entered that number into my fax machine, it came up as EXPERIAN on the id box...and usually it doesn't ID fax numbers)

Mr. Lee Lundy
Priority Processing
(that's the person i addressed it to)

(i got a reply to my email saying that they can't investigate something based on an email, however since i got a call back, i assume that sending both an email AND a fax is a good idea).

good luck!
