Re: geico identity theft protection

I would be surprised if this offers a Transunion FICO score but let me ask around and see what I can find out.

From a BK years ago to:
EX - 3/11 pulled by lender- 835, EQ - 2/11-816, TU - 2/11-782

Re: geico identity theft protection

please ... I'll appreciate it .

If it really offers this then trust me this one is extremely good cuz I was paying $30 every month for me and my wife.

But if I get this one I'll be paying like $7 for both of us. Amazing right ?????

Re: geico identity theft protection

I've never heard of this CMS before today. They provide 3-CRA monitoring and daily TU pulls with some sort of score. And ditto, I doubt it is FICO and I suspect it could be a TransUnion Interactive resell (e.g. TC). I tried calling and they said they are only accepting calls at this time for ID theft victims, but suggested calling in the morning, and I will.

ETA...The parent website (Europ Assistance Group (I guess they forgot the "e")) sells this product at $60 or so more than Geico.

Re: geico identity theft protection

For monitoring of potential identity theft, receiving credit scores is not necessary.  If the purpose is simply to monitor for identity-theft related issues, their are cheaper plans that dont provide a score.

Additionally, you can do your identity theft monitoring for free.  While it does not provide monthly review or a report from each CRA, it does provide  free review every four months.

You can order your free annual report from annualcreditreport.com, one from each CRA, staggered every four months.  If your creditors report to each of the three CRAs, that will provide a minimum degree of potential identity theft notification.  Of course, if you suspect a real issue of identity theft, then getting a more frequent plan that offers more CRs would be prudent.

Re: geico identity theft protection

OP, I'm on phone right now.

While they have me on hold to check the score source, they did say that it's a 3-pull report when you first subscribe and the TU unlimited reports they mentioned as a bait-and-switch...it's unlimited "access" to your TU report, but it does refresh monthly. The other two reports don't refresh at all.

Something isn't jiving with the score...stay tuned while I call the source.

Re: geico identity theft protection

I've concluded my search and am convinced that Geico partners with Europ Assistance who resells TrueCredit as part of their identity theft service. This would match the 1x/mo pull as mentioned by the CSR earlier. I had to double check each angle because he also told me they offered a FICO, which is incorrect.

In searching, I found that Europ Assistance also partners with other companies like Nationwide Insurance and offers the same product. On Nationwide's website, they threw this out:

Nationwide offers credit monitoring through a partnership with Europ Assistance USA and TrueCredit. TrueCredit is a wholly owned subsidiary of TransUnion – one of the largest credit agencies in the world.

What I don't know is which FAKO they offer. TC offers Vantage FAKO, but there are some TC resell products (e.g. like EIDT's MPM) that still offer a TransRisk FAKO. I also don't know if you can update TU daily or not. The CSR said no, but could be wrong.

Re: geico identity theft protection

It all depends on your goals. Some folks prefer to pull their reports daily. Some monthly. And some only look 1x/year. It's all your preference. The price of this service is $75 or $6.25/mo. In comparison, USAA's service is top of the line with regards to features and is $12.25/mo. which enables you to pull all 3 reports daily. In purchasing a CMS, is it worth it to pay half to get a 1-time access to all 3 with monthly access to TU only? The answer might be"yes". I dunno.

Geico is reselling a TransUnion Interactive service (via TC) and I'm using it now too for another product, but I can pull all 3 daily. The company itself isn't bad and I wouldn't be concerned about the quality. It's not a bad deal. But it boils down to preferences.
