how long does it take?

How long does it take for somehting to come off your credit.  Verizon wireless reported me to a collection agency even though it wasnt me it was an ex girlfriend.  The debt was paid the whole 70 bucks even thought the info was taken out of my name 3 years earlier but its the only thing weighing down my credit.

Re: how long does it take?

It can remain for up to 7 1/2 years from DOFD.

Try sending a GW letter to whomever is reporting.

Re: how long does it take?

Hi,

I wish I had an answer for you but am actually wondering the same thing myself.  Did you ever find out how to have old and outdated information removed from your credit report?

Thanks....what a pain!!!

What is the "old and outdated information"? Closed accounts report for 10 years, derogatories report for 7 years - 10 years.

Try this: Credit reporting time periods
