71 points is too big for a few inquiries.

Successfully disputed/removed accounts may have changed things or there could be a new negative factor.

I've taken a 60pt drop from one inq last lear while rebuilding.

It recovered rather quickly, but a HUGE hit none-the-less.

5/2012: 560 credit scores across the board
12/2014: 750+
3/2017: 780+
11/2019: 833
2/2023: Experian via Chase United Explorer CC pull - 891

I've never seen anyone here report more than 5-7 points from a single inquiry. Are you sure nothing else changed?

The credit world would grind to a halt if a single inquiry were that punitive, LOL!

Re: just took a beating with TU

I'm going to wait a month or so to give the kohls charge a chance to show up and then pull my TU again to see what really happened. i did pull it the last week of december after BK discharge hit so i know the drop didnt happen from that and all other activity had to do with those 5 inq and the clean up of a few accounts.

funny thing is that Equifax score actually went up over the last month.

oh well...

If I were going to hazard a guess (based upon posts read on the rebuilding board): An account that should have been IIB may have been improperly coded on TU and still lists as delinquent. Credit Karma is a free way to chack but it may not give detailed enough information to suit your needs.

Re: just took a beating with TU

OP has mentioned Credit Karma, which is a FAKO. Wait a while to see if the new account pops up on CK and than buy your TU score from myfico for your real score
CHASE FREEDOM | AMEX BCE | | BOFA REWARDS | CITI TYP | Quicksilver | DISCOVER IT | Sallie Mae | CHASE CSP

Re: just took a beating with TU

There are so many FICO scores available that I don't even know how many have value. Value specifically being; the same version/score as what a lendor would pull.

For OP's needs, I'm guessing the most important thing would be updated reports to make sure everything was properly included in his BK.

Re: just took a beating with TU

To add to what's already stated, disputes can cause substantial swings in FICO scoring: tradelines in dispute are typically discounted which can skew scores all sorts of ways.

I would agree that removing derogatory information is never a negative thing; however, it *can* produce a negative in one's score as a result of rebucketing: put simply, there's different tiers inside the scoring model - the pretty people are only compared against other pretty people, where as me, not so much.  That said my own personal bucket tops out around 680-700 apparently on EQ Beacon 5.0... so on the whole, I'd rather be with the pretty people though I fully expect whenever my last tax lien does drop off, I will take a temporary drop in score (unless it's far enough in the future that the positive information qualifies me for a 720+ score as an example without the boat anchor around my neck).

Finally, someone mentioned it was a CK score: we can't even being to guess on that one, TU's New Accounts Score (whatever the heck that is) is completely different than FICO and frankly I find it rather laughable personally.  My historical CK over the last two years from both positive and negative changes looks like a flatlined EKG graph: He's dead Jim!
