lender offering to extend HELOC term - is this negative on credit?

we have a HELOC that was part of our original mortgage maturing in a couple of months (10 year term at origination), was planning on just paying it off but lender has proactively sent us an offer to extend the term by 36 months, this would be nice to do as we are trying to sell our house and then wouldn't have to move money all around. I have tried to ask them if this is a negative item on our credit and they say no but they don't sound 100% sure - they say it is a modification. Any ideas as to whether this would be a negative hit on our credit? really don't want that

I would think it would only negatively affect your credit if 1) they reported it as a new loan or 2) lowered the credit limit.
