paid collections what to do?

Hi everybody I'm new here. I'm trying to clean up some 2 collections that are reported on my TU. They were paid in 2005. Do I call them directly or send them a letter. I'm confused as to how to compose my letter since they were paid meaning that I have agreed to the amount. Any help I would really appreciate. Smiley Happy

Re: paid collections what to do?

TU probably won't remove these tradelines until after the 7 year period Smiley Sad - but you do have a chance if you go directly to the CA or business reporting it. Sometimes it can be very difficult to get CA's to remove or revise their tradeline after they've been paid, but over the years I've found that if you're patient, persistent and really polite you can eventually get to someone at the CA that will help you. That's your primary goal here - to make contact with someone at the CA or business that'll be willing to help you get the tradelines removed altogether. The GW letters here are an excellent place to start learning how to communicate with CAs and other businesses. Most requests for a tradeline removal have to be made in writing but I always begin by calling the CA until I reach a person that is polite - I immediately get that person's ext # & I ask if I can fax my request to them immediately. Then I ask the person to personally look into the matter & get back to me regarding progress.  I then follow up regularly - at least every couple of days - with good results so far. Once I have my removal  I always ask my contact to fax or mail me letter to that effect - and I immediately use the letter to dispute with the CRA. Again, patience and persistence is the key here. If someone tells you "No", wait awhile (an hour, a day, a week etc.) and try again - you'll eventually connect with someone. These jobs (at CAs) have a very high turnover rate and you can be assured that over time you'll be able to get to someone new.
Good Luck! Smiley Happy
