planning on refinancing, but unsure if i should get my credit scores prior to the refi process

I've had issues such as disputes because my dad and I have the same name (only separation is the suffix JR).  I was wondering if I should get my credit scores prior to the refi process to see if I will further need to re-dispute his credit showing up on mine.

I hear it takes a slight toll on your numbers if you dip into the credit inquiries too close/too soon.  I don't plan on refinancing my home until mid-September, but during this month (July) i'm about to pay off a huge debt.

Pulling your own credit files...has no effect on your scores.

I think you should get all 3 scores before a refi to find out where you are and what you can expect.

It is worth the investment
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Absolutely get all 3 FICO scores and the credit reports.  Don't get the FAKOs.  Do a google search to find discount codes for ordering the FICO scores.  It can take a few months to fix up any mistakes, so if you are planning to refi in the fall, get all this stuff now.  Good luck!

You should ASOLUTELY get your credit report and proper scores so you know exactly what yout potential lender will be looking at...I just got an email from MYFICO.com for a 20% of the Suze Orman kit that will give you all the information you require, plus more.  The code was SUZEKIT20 for the discount, total cost of about 39.00, I think.  Get your score as high as possible to get the lowest possible interest rate, and you will save thousands of dollars in the long run!  Good luck (as I'm in the dame boat right now...)
