something weird with cap1

I had a debt from 2002 with cap1. it went to collections as a charge off. I paid it in full in 2005. Now, on my credit report it shows paid CO and also has cap1 as an account in good standing from when I paid it off. So, it's on CR's twice - one good, one bad.

Here is the thing - the good standing cap1 is showing as DOLA and Date opened as 1999 - but I didn't even get a cap1 card until 2002 and paid it off in 2005.

I want to write a GW to get the lates and CO removed - but will they remove the good one showing 1999 and why would they do that? Should I contest that they are reporting the good one wrong to remove the bad one?

Re: something weird with cap1

Was it a scam that they put 1999 on all three reports as DOLA on the currently paid cap1 account even though it was really 2005? Do they do that so if I dispute they can delete that one?

I am getting ready to send out GW letter and want to make sure I don't need to address that in the letter.

Thanks!!

Re: something weird with cap1

Stick to Gw-ing the bad account. However, I have had NO LUCK on GW with Cap1. None. Nada. Zilch. I've written three times, each time getting a form letter explaining that the account - which was paid three years ago - is being reported corecctly, take it up with the CRAs, etc, etc. And I've had another account with them in perfect standing for three years - no lates. They are stone-cold.
