i had a 545 credit score in transunion. my dad added me on his wal mart CC and my score jumped to 581. first credit card under my account. utilization is high 88 percent. but that will be down to around 60 by the next payment. anything else i can do to continue to pick up my score. should i do another AU since i cant open a CC of my own at this time?

I would be working on getting your derogs in order. You cant even get a secured card??
Are you just starting out or are you rebuilding?
im rebuilding. i have 4 derogs. 1 comes off in may. 1 i disputed and it came off experian and equifax but its still on transunion. the other im paying off ($400) left and my last one is $5800 for a broken lease which is another story of its own. im working to have one left by mid may. i tried capital one Secured CC but they need more information. this was before my score went up. just received a letter asking for my SS and mailing address.

Well this is good news for you, that Cap-1 is mos likely approved and they need your verifications.
You might be in with Capital One. {Edited. That subject is not allowed to be discussed-MarineVietVet, myFICO moderator}
If that fails there are always other secured credit cards although it sounds as though your money is tied up in paying down your debt. Open Sky doesn't pull at all so that's a guarantee and First Progress accepts scores in your range. Like Cap One they won't ever graduate. However, if you get in with Cap One now and demonstrate a healthy payment history you'll be in the door with them and able to app for better cards down the line that they offer. With the other two mentioned secured cards, they are a means to rebuild, period. No products to app for outside their secured lines. Good luck!

This. If you have dergos work on them as they tend to hold you back no matter what else you do. Hit the Rebuilding subforum to see what you can do about them. You need to work on building your own tradelines. If CO doesn't work out there are other secured cards out there. If you can manage to make the deposits you might want to look into getting 2-3 secured cards.
