voluntary wage assignments

Can anyone explain the process of this? I live in Pennsylvania an I am getting constant threats from some overseas payday loan company that they will be submitting a voluntary wage assignment to my employer. First of all, they can't and won't prove I owe any money (they say their word is good enough, of which I know better than that). From what I understand wage assignments can go through without a court order but I think there are criteria that needs to be met (such as being signed by me in person, of which never happened). I also know i can revoke this, which I've sent a letter to the company. I've alerted my employer to the possibility of this happening. I guess I just want to be sure I don't get a paycheck down the road that's less than it should be. Any help is appreciated.

Quite franky, I never heard of this before today.

First off, a voluntary wage assignment is just that, voluntary. You took a good first step in notifying your employer. They do not have to comply with any notice or letter, but would if there was a garnishment from the courts. I'm an employer in VA and if I ever saw one it would go in the trash.

Here's some info from the FTC about this:

From reading this link or elsewhere, I read that it is illegal in many states. I looked for info on PA and couldn't find any.
