warning - OT

Before                                                                        After

My poor, poor, poor DH.

He bought a car and paid $1000 cash for it.  It's actually a very nice Dodge ramcharger 1993 that used to be a state conservation vehicle.  I was initially upset about the purchase, but chose to let it go since he did use his sidework money to buy it.  He bought it the weekend before this past weekend.

Well, on our way to a halloween party Saturday night with the kids, we hit a deer.  I thought that we had blown a tire out since the car "jumped" and went down so much.  I was picking up stuff that fell out of the diaper bag and onto the floorboard.  I hear a big pop and look up and say, "did we blow a tire!"  He started cussing, "It was a fksfjkew deer!  Son of a Bjfksjw!  Gouue Dajfkasf-it".  I look back and the kids are just hunky-dory.  Didn't faze them in the least.  We get out of the car and his brand new shiny bumper (which I must admit was the nicest part of the car) and the grill were busted.  It honestly looks like he hit a tree!

So, would it be considered ironic that the vehicle that spent it's life preserving the animals ended up taking one out?  My husband says that we were lucky.  If we were in the minivan, it would have totalled the van.  I agree and so does everyone else.  Although I don't think "lucky" is the correct work.  Perhaps "blessed" would be better.

At any rate, we ramped the deer and that's what made it feel like a tire blew out.  It was like a big bump in the road.  There were a few houses across the road and a lady heard the initial impact sound.  Her husband came out and helped DH pull the deer off the road.  It was icky.  Guts everywhere.  Just glad that we are all okay and the vehicle runs fine (just looks silly at the moment)

Oh willow! I know your poor hubby just feels awful. First for executing bambi, and secondly his neat new car. So sorry. Smiley Sad

And yes, you all were lucky. I grew up out in the country when growing up, and drove past several people who had hit deer and cows. Not only totalled the car, but almost killed the passengers.

Thank goodness you all are ok.

Re: warning - OT

First, I'm glad that you are all OK - that's the important thing.  Sorry about the poor creature, ewww.

Perhaps you are 'lucky' or 'blessed' however you look at it.  My brother gave my parents his old car when he bought a new one.  They didn't originally want it, but they ended up using it since it ran better than their 'work' car.  Anyway, one day a girl on a cell phone cut them off and rammed my Mom's side of the car. My parents' car ended up going completely across the street, sideways from their original direction. They ran up a curb, over a lawn, ran over a small tree, and slammed into a brick and concrete porch.

Well, the car they didn't want had airbags.  Their other cars didn't.  The airbags most definately saved my Mother's life, or at least from very serious injury.  Dad was fine - the steering wheel and airbag stopped him, Mom had severe bruising and had to get some stiches, but she wasn't thrown through the windshield.  We, including the firefighters who pulled her out, believe that the seatbelts might have kept her in the car, but both parents would have been cut up by flying glass.

So, I guess my point is that the car you didn't want, was meant to be yours.

Here are a few pics...
