Hello!
My wife and I are in the market for a mortgage both have AAoA's of about 5yr. She has a USAA CC that's 8yr old, I have a Wells Fargo CC that's 7yr old. The rest of our profiles are spotless and util is 1%. Some questions:
1 - If I add her and she adds me as AU on oldest accounts, since they're older than 5yr, will this help our AAoA's? I'm looking to squeeze as many possible tiny point boosts out as I can.
2 - Any way this will negatively impact any of our scores in some unexpected way? There should be no inq's and these cards should backdate, right?
Thanks!
Hello, I don't believe adding eachother will significantly impact your AAoA. Yes it will help some but I don't believe enough that it will dramatically affect your credit score. AAoA does not have a heavy weight in the overall credit score, so I don't believe boosting it an average of 1-2 years will make too much of an impact. It seems that when AAoA is more around 10-11 years is when this will get the biggest jump. I also don't believe this will negatively impact you in any way.
