Hello all, short of the long. A medical provider reported a $41 collection IN ERROR while I was in UW. The sad thing is that the account was reported in error, as the $41 was a credit they OWED ME and some moron entered it wrong and it was reported as a bill. This all without ever contacting me.
They have since removed the account but Transunion are being their typical D-Bag selves and instead of deleting it they changed it to a charge off account. I tried calling them and they said they could dispute it... I said NO. I am hoping to speak to their US based folks to morrow and have it removed immediately (but this mah not happen).
My loan officer laughed when I told her thinking it was funny and told me to chill saying that I am CTC and that all is fine. We close on Tuesday(1st) and my TU score and report still arent updated. I have the letter saying it was an error and the letter confirming deletion.
My EX score is 840, EQ is 815, but TU is 720 (it dropped 85 points!!!!) I know they wont pull scores again but if the UW does a soft pull and sees the $41 collection on just TU will it cause any concern?
Our DTI is low at 32%.
We JUST recovered from a Chapter 13 BK that has just passed the seasoning requirements and this bullcrap happens. I swear if this closing gets delayed/stopped because of this I am suing the medical provider for violation of the FCRA. This bull crap of collection agencies monitoring reports and seeing a mortgage inquiry and then pouncing is predatory and should be illegal.
Get the Original Creditor to give you a Letter clearly stating what you have said. Keep that letter FOREVER and use it to get this removed.
And yes you are very likely fine as you are 2 days from closing. But get that letter by email and then have them send the Real letter with ink signature. Your credit score is going to drop like a rock until this is reversed.
Enjoy the new home and Congratulations on the new house!
TY! I called Transunion this morning. Always ask for the US SPECIAL RESOLUTION DEPT!!! They looked at tgd collection then put it in dispute and it immediately fell off my credit. My FICO 8 score went from 720 to 835! Thanks be to God!
These collection agencies need to be pug in check with much more regulatory oversight... what a racket!
I'm guessing you're too busy enjoying the new home but I'd love to hear your happy ending!
It was a smooth transaction! We are in a beautiful home. We closed 4 days passed our chapter 13 bankruptcy seasoning date of 2 years passed discharge. The collection was removed yesterday. Also, my mortgage company (Movement Mortgage) never ran my credit again, no soft pull. I was told it was because of good credit, low DTI, and the age of the pull from original application (28 days from app to close!!!).
To all who are fighting credit challenges, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks be to God that we made it! Filed chapter 13 in Oct of 2013, credit scores were 520s. Today they are Ex840, Eq820, and Tu835. We keep a total of 5% utilization combined on all credit cards and have a car loan and a few student loans from way back. All I can say is, God is good.
I still hold firm that Transunion and Collectors are in cahoots. I know it to be a fact as I am in the fraud investigation industry... dirty, rotten, scoundrels.
Thanks all and hopefully this challenge will help someone else.
