EQUIFAX MORTGAGE SERVICES INQUIRY???
Hi everyone. My first post on the mortgage forum. I pulled my EQ(free) annual credit report today, and there is a new hard inquiry posted yesterday 4/1/11 from Equifax Mortgage Services: 6 Clementon Rd E Ste A2 Gibbsboro, NJ. Only problem is I haven't applied for any new mortgage product. My current mortgage is almost 15 yrs old with Wells Fargo. Since it is Saturday, I can't talk with anyone. I sent an e-mail inquiry to Wells Fargo to ask if they have anything to do with it. CSC Credit Services handles my EQ file, and I found their address and a contact number to call on Monday. I checked my TU report today with Truecredit, but not showing up there yet, but they are notoriously two days later than when something actually posts to my CR, but I also have a security lock on my TU report. I don't know about EX yet because I can't check it until 4/9 on Truecredit(only get monthly pulls). I found some other posts on here about Equifax Mortgage Services, but they all have to do with loan applications in one way or another. Anyone have any ideas? I left a voice message on their answering service this morning, and I mentioned "police report" and "permissible purpose". Don't know if that will get their attention or not. I am credit gardening for a new house next year, and don't want any new inquiries on my report, least of all a mortgage inquiry. BTW, I also pulled my EQ from myFico today, and it says I have no inquiries affecting my credit score....which mysteriously went from 708 to 725. Thanks to all in advance.

Re: EQUIFAX MORTGAGE SERVICES INQUIRY???
O.K. I just got a response from Wells Fargo, and it wasn't them. I still haven't gotten an alert from MyFico for the hard inquiry, if in fact it was a hard inquiry as stated in my annual credit report. Still hoping someone on here can help shed some light on the situation.

Re: EQUIFAX MORTGAGE SERVICES INQUIRY???
When you pull your EQ report from here, it gets your "real time" data from the Equifax credit bureau. That is, the information on the credit reports from here is obtained directly from Equifax's file on you. There should not be any information lag between Equifax and here. So it's unusual that a hard inquiry would appear on your free annual credit report and not appear on your myFICO EQ report pulled after your free report. What is the heading under which the inquiry appears on your free report?

Re: EQUIFAX MORTGAGE SERVICES INQUIRY???
Lel: The heading on my annualcreditreport.com is "Inquiries that may impact your credit rating". I knew it was a hard because it is listed with my last credit card inquiry, and an inquiry from my credit union last year when I co-signed a car loan for my daughter. Don't know why it did not show up on MyFico when I pulled EQ on 4/2/11(the day after the inquiry), but it didn't. I spent a while on the phone this morning, and Equifax Mortgage Services told me it was a hard inquiry , and she mentioned Freddie Mac. I asked if it was from Wells Fargo, and she said "yes". I then spent another 15 minutes on the phone with Wells Fargo, whom were very helpful. She dug as deep into my file as she could go, and found nothing. She gave me the contact information for their investigation dept. so they could look into it further. So.....I tried my last option. I called CSC credit services in Houston, Tx. They pulled my EQ report up immediately. She asked if I had applied for any mortgage products...I said absolutely not. She then told me the inquiry was from "Freddie Mac". She asked if I wanted to file an unauthorized inquiry dispute, and I told her absolutely. She gave me no other information, except that I would be notified by mail of the dispute results. My mortgage is through Wells Fargo, but it is a Freddie Mac loan. My question is, is this normal? or legal? Don't know why they would pull now, I've had the mortgage for aboout 15 years.

Re: EQUIFAX MORTGAGE SERVICES INQUIRY???
Very odd series of events. Hopefully your dispute gets settled quickly. Creditors regularly do credit report reviews, but they're supposed to be soft inquiries. Perhaps this was mis-coded. Also, I wasn't aware that mortgage lenders did reviews.

Re: EQUIFAX MORTGAGE SERVICES INQUIRY???
I have seen a yearly AR on my reports from most all of my creditors, they are always soft pulls though. Don't know what this was about, but I hope it gets deleted. All of my inquiries on EQ just went past the one year mark....and my score went up a bit too. I locked all three of my reports now.
