Owner Financed SItuation - Question

Experts,  I'm in the middle to taking control of my credit files and starting to do some much needed repair.  One thing about my financial life that has always bothered me is I have been buying a home from the owner so this owner financed purchase is not being reported to the CRAs.  I only have 4 years left on the purchase and am pretty proud to have had 25 years of solid payment history with him.  But he's never even entertained reporting it to my reports.  Does anyone know how I can personally help this guy out and perhaps do what is needed to get it reported?  Would owner financed mortgage even help my credit score and history?  Please let me know what you all think, Barry

Re: Owner Financed SItuation - Question

Any on time payments you've made which are reported to the credit bureaus should help out your credit score.  However it's not cheap to report to the credit bureaus, and only creditors who'd have an incentive for their borrowers to continue making on time payments would probably have an interest in doing so.  There is also an increased liability when reporting to the credit bureaus.  Even some of the smaller banks and credit unions don't feel it's worth it, so to get a private mortgage holder to report is probably not going to happen.

Couldn't find the link to Equifax, but I believe they require a minimum of 500 customers report on a monthly basis.
