Quick Question about State Tax Lien

Hi - quick question. I have an old tax lien from the State of MD. Will this lien prevent me from closing on an FHA loan? Thanks

Re: Quick Question about State Tax Lien

More than likely yes it will.

I would recommend getting it paid if you plan on buying a home.  Just remember also that once the lien is satisfied, it will be your responsibility to ensure the Bureaus no longer report it as owed.

It's not reporting on my credit report; will that make a difference? Is this the same as a Federal lien where a payment plan needs to be in place?

Re: Quick Question about State Tax Lien

There are various areas that this lien can show up. If they do see it, it will have to be paid in full or a payment plan must be in place in which you'd have to make 3 consecutive payments (over 3 months) I have seen it where the lien didnt show up anywhere.
