Hello, in January my husband and I were preapproved for a new construction build. We are working on improving our credit before the lender pulls it again. Last year we disputed a collection with NCC Business Service and provided documentation to help prove our dispute but had no success. At this point we just want the dispute comment removed. Sent letters to NCC asking them to remove the comment but no reply. We called Transunion and they opened a dispute to remove the comment. My husband received the Transunion dispute results and it didn't even mention the collection but they changed his last name to my maiden name! I totally freaked out because we already had to write an explanation to the Lender explaining several AKA's (due to his last name being commonly mis-spelled and being reported with and without Jr). After calling Transunion they agreed to correct it.
In the meantime we finally received a letter from NCC stating they would remove the dispute comment, the letter also included a 'Universal Data Form' and in the account section the Date Opened is 9-27-08, Date of Account Information is 1-30-13 and FCRA 1st Date of Delinquency is 8-22-08.
Saturday he received the Transunion results showing they corrected name (still mis-spelled but this is an easy explanation). The comment was removed from the NCC collection account and the report states the Placed for Collection date is 9-27-08, Date Updated is 1-30-13 and Estimated Month & Year it will be Removed is 07/2015.
But now I'm freaking out again because the report also lists the collection account with a Date Closed of 1-30-13! I don't understand what this means. Does this mean the lender will see it as a new collection?
I'm so worried.
Does it still have an open date on it?
There is an open date of 9-27-08 on the Universal Data Form we received with the NCC letter.
Here are the dates listed on the Transunion investigation report:
Placed for collection: 9-27-08
Date updated: 1-30-13
Date closed: 1-30-13
Estimated month and year that this item will be removed: 07/2015
There are no monthly rating dates
I pulled his MyFico TU report and only date is the date assigned 9-27-08 (in the collection section of the report).
The letter from NCC is dated 1-31-13 and states, "This letter is to serve as confirmation that a request has been made on 1-30-13 to Equifax, Experian, Transunion, and Innovis to update this account on your credit report. This account should not report as disputed after this date." The universal data form that came with the letter has the following dates:
Date opened: 9-27-08
Date of account information: 1-30-13
FCRA 1st Date of Delinquency: 8-22-08
Submitted by: xxxxx Date 1-30-13
Regardless of the updated date, the original opening date is all an underwriter will look at.
Thanks you!!!!!!
lenders aren't dumb. they know collection agency dates are bogus
