Underwriting? Final approval.

Does anyone out there know if "Sent to final approval" mean that it's still in underwriting? Or does it mean underwriting is done and a "Higher Up" will "Clear to Close" a loan? Dumb question, I know, but I'm totally new at this mortgage process thing. Thanks for all your answers.

Re: Underwriting? Final approval.

Thanks, MURPHYSLAW. If I may ask, why would it revert back to UW?

Re: Underwriting? Final approval.

I was told it was so they can make sure all the required stuff was done (repairs and such) and any conditions that needed to be met had been met, in my case it was gettting flood insurance, a new well, and an electricl upgrade.  Supposedly once that is reviewed then it is set for closing.  From what I can tell buying a house involves a lot of people looking at a lot of paperwork a bunch of times..  I think I'll stick to the amount of paperwork I'm required to do as a nurse, if I had to do it the way the mortgage industry does I would never be done..  LOL
