Hi,
I was wondering what everyone is doing with AOD FCU. The checking/savings rates are horrible, CD rates are decent. With the drop of the visa signature card, they don't have a worthwhile card. I also notice they don't do Zelle, Popmoney, etc., as they have an internal solution to send People-to-People payments.
Just wondering if there is something of value with AOD FCU. Otherwise, it is just another account I need to send activity to in order to keep in play.
Do you have there 3% car nowd? What makes you think they will drop it as no signs pointing towards them doing so as just got my renewed card in the mail. With that said if they were to drop it I would see no real point in keeping the CU as they don't do auto loans outside of Alabama and nothing else real special other than good customer service i have experienced in the past
Nope. They denied me back when for imaginary payments towards deferred student loans. I only have savings and checking.
Since you don't have the card I'd probably just move on other than maybe keeping the savings account open with just enough left in it to maintain membership. I don't think they're a bad CU by any means but to someone who doesn't live in Alabama the closing of the 3% card to new applications removed the biggest reason to not consider them Just Another Credit Union.
@RootDet I agree all of their savings and CD rates are well below par. If you decide to leave AOD the link below is to web site that would help you find a new bank or credit union. You will need to configure it to where you live. Alos there are a couple options on tailoring the the search results as well. If you want / need a brank or credit union with a local branch(s). Also if you wnat the results to show just credit unions or just banks or both. The site will show the savings rates etc for most of the banks and credit unions.

There is also this

I use depositaccounts.com all the time. It is because of this site I am a member of Quorum FCU. ( this is not a promo for this CU)
Hope it helps.
I'm in the same boat. I signed up with AOD in December of 2021, and didn't get approved for the Visa Signature, at the time. The discontinued it before I got a chance to snag it. No clue if I should keep the checking and savings accounts I have there or just dump them. Leaning towards dumping them.

In general, if checking/saving features at a small remote CU weren't great, I would have no hesitation in closing. In this case though, given the 3% card, it's reasonable to ask "Will they one day offer that, or another great card, again? [and will having accounts help me get it]" My guess is probably not, but that IS just a guess!
@CreditCobra I would agree with @longtimelurker thoughts. You can use the links I piosted earlier in this thread to help you find a credit union or bank that would better suit your needs if you decide to close the accounts.
I remember it was a lot of circus monkey hoop jumping to get in. It's up to you but, if it were me, I'd keep the membership live in the (rare?) hopes they bring back the unicorn of cards. Keep $25 in savings and be done with it?
