I own 5 cards about. 2 cards have high credit line. So maybe this is a lot of available credit? However, the rep at AOD I am speaking to, I told her AOD will become my primary card and to let the underwriters know of this.
So if that is the case with a lot of credit available, it seems this AOD signature card will only work for people with new credit, maybe in the 600-700 credit score. I don't know what their end game is if I was not approved.
Like what are they looking for... ![]()
They are definitely looking for higher scores. That decides your APR. They are a small and conservative CU. They are sensitive to DTI, especially if you have high student loans. Sensitive to derogatories, and their income calculation is like no other FI.
When I said high available credit... I meant like $500k-$1m, and 40 cards. They have recently shown they aren't interested in those profiles. They are being more selective, but looking for what... only they know!!
Did you outright ask why that card isn't an option?
A couple had success writing president, but I'd find out reasoning for the denial. Before trying to overturn decision.
I am no where near 40 cards or that high available credit. Under 10 cards, under $120k in available credit, etc
I told the rep I do not understand why i was not approved and if I could get even the $5000 CL VS card.
Still did not hear back, but if they completly finalize it and tell me I am not approved, I will ask why I am denied and then I will write to the president.
Things with them have changed alot and a very hard card to get now vs. the first few weeks of it coming out. They certainly are more sensitive to many things now whether new accounts/inquiries etc. They aren't looking for bad credit as you eluded to as many of of that initially got in had good to excellent credit alot of us with have excess of 500k-1+ million in credit lines. As mentioned they caught on and probably are a bit more relaxed for their target market meaning people in Alabama with modest incomes and modest scores and just really tightened up for people outside their geo footprint and getting in ways they thought people would never use so they just look for reasons to deny people now by making their UW ultra tight, but most likely loser to locals. I had no issues getting 20k what I asked for when I applied when it first became known to the public about this card. Had it what 13-14 months now?
This perceived tightening may be true as a general rule, but it's not iron-clad.
I was recently approved for the 3% Visa as an out-of-footprint biking enthusiast (or at least supporter). The AOD card came at the end of what you might call a spree (5 new cards in the preceding c. 2 months, but one was a soft pull) and with aggregate CL (including all 6 new cards) of c. $715K.
So for those in doubt, I say give it a try!

Agree nothing in credit is ever guaranteed as know. They have tightened for many, but yes people still get in although alot less than first few weeks this card was known about. Was very easy and pleasant experience for me when I joined them and got approved by manager over phone although still had to do all the documentation. Took about 2 days total to finish if I recall correctly for membership to cc approval if I recall correctly. Also had around 600k of personal credit at the time. Guessing scores were around 800 at time as well with 15 inquiries approx on EQ at time also about 24 new accounts in last two years etc. So things certainly have tightened up from DP's provided recently, exceptions are still made for the right profile.
How do i contact the president if I have to? That's where it seems to be headed... ![]()
by the way, does anyone know when the AOD card came out? How long has it been running?

I believe it was the beginning of April 2020 when there was a gangload of members from here applying.
