Affirm Denial....

A couple of years ago I used Affirm to buy a Peloton. At the time my FICO scores were around 650. I paid that off and now that my FICO Scores are getting close to 700 checked with Affirm to see what I qualify for and they said they couldn't offer me credit at this time. Doesn't that seem strange?

Re: Affirm Denial....

Not knowing any contributing factors on reports, it's hard to say. Many factors go into a decision. Many lenders have stricter UW policies due to the pandemic.

Re: Affirm Denial....

Affirm is strange.  I used Affirm 2-3 years ago when I only had low limit cards and I was placing an order that was more than I had available.  I got Affirm approval for that purchase and used it 2 more times after that.  Paid them all off on the schedules and didn't use them for awhile.  A few months ago I was going to use them for an order but got denied, reason "previous history with Affirm".  Which was all good, all paid, no lates, but they wouldn't do anything about it.  They may have just tightened up underwriting.

Re: Affirm Denial....

Try Afterpay, I do not think they report to the Bureaus although I am sure they find their resources for checking credit.

The problem is that companies can start reporting any time. Affirm started off not reporting and then retroactively added all of their accounts, open and paid/closed, to Experian.
