I'm interested because I'm eligible, and they offer their Kasasa Cash interest-bearing checking account, currently offering 2.25% for balances up to $25,000. It requires, "Post and clear (a) at least one direct deposit or pre-authorized ACH (b) post and clear eighteen or more purchase transactions using your debit card and (c) consent to receive your periodic statements electronically during the Periodic Statement Cycle."
I'm leery because looking at their online reviews they don't seem to be the very best place to make into one's primary financial home. But this interest rate on an account balance up to $25k interests me, and _should_ be painless...?
Does anyone here have any experience with them? If so, does opening a checking account require a hard pull?
I do not know about HPs for joining AAFCU. A close friend of mine belongs to AAFCU and has nothing but praise for them. Keep in mind most people do not go online to post great reviews. The folks who do are usually upset about one thing or another and want the whole world to know it.
I don't know much about the CU but 2.25% and the requirements are actually on the low end of the scale, there are already savings and money market accounts that offers 2.25% without any requirements or max caps and the rates are still going up.
2.25% is also low and 18 debit transactions are very high for high yield checking account standards. Just to give you few examples, my WYHY FCU (you can apply over the phone out of state) offers 4% up to 15k with just 12 debit transactions, Comsumer's FCU offers 3.09%/4.09%/5.09% up to 10k with 12 debit and some additional requirements for the higher rates, One America Bank offers 3.5% up to 10k with 12 debit, Heritage Bank offers 3.33% up to 25k with 10 debit (you can open 2 accounts making it 50k total).
Here is a list of high interest accounts on Doctor of Credit.

I have no interest in Kasasa accounts because I don't like being ringed in by all their restrictions, but I can tell you that lots of credit unions have Kasasa accounts. One very good one is Hanscom Credit Unon.
