Just as a curiosity, I have multiple Amex cards and as many of us have ran into occasions where Amex CC's aren't accepted.
In such instances, would the rewards checking debit card not be accepted either? I know debit transactions are processed differently but wasn't sure if that would have an effect on the debit card's acceptance with it still being an Amex.
Ive considered opening their checking account but have been hesitant to not knowing this.
Check out my thread on this, i actually got approved for the Checking account and paid down my Amex CS CC so im wondering how much MR points i will get. I should be getting the Debit card by next week.
There's absolutely no difference. If a merchant doesn't accept cards on the American Express network, it doesn't matter if it's credit or debit, it won't be accepted. Now there's also a difference between "policy" and actual acceptance. There are few merchants that don't actually accept Amex, but just don't want to due to the increased interchange fee rate.
