Re: Amex lowering Apr on HYSA

I'm seeing this on my HYSAs as well.  It was inevitable.  No more 5%s.  Let's hope the 4%s stay for a little longer.

[Until I can make a pretty signature, here’s an updated draft]

Everyday 5% CB:
Chase prime Visa // citi CUSTOM CASH “A” // citi CUSTOM CASH “B” // citi SHOP YOUR WAY (5% gas (in points), lucrative spending offers) // mylowe’s Rewards // Target circle card // primis Perks debit Visa (50c CB per transaction (5% CB or more up to $10 spend))

5% CB rotating:
Chase “OG” freedom Visa // DISCOVER it Cash Back // nusenda CU Platinum Cash Rewards

Everyday 4% CB:
US Bank Smartly (v1.0)

Everyday 3% / 2.2% CB:
AOD FCU Visa Signature (3%, sockdrawered) // upgrade Cash Rewards Elite (2.2%, sockdrawered)

Welcome Offer / credits only:
Chase SAPPHIRE PREFFERED (grabbed my $1,000, sockdrawered, will cancel) // NFCU FLAGSHIP REWARDS (elevated Welcome Offer, annual prime credit, sockdrawered)

Hotel card:
Chase IHG ONE REWARDS PREMIER (elevated Welcome Offer, 1 free night/yr)

On my radar:
Langely FCU Signature Cash Back (5% CB monthly selectable cat) // Safe CU Cash Back+ (Quarterly rotating 5% CB cats plus bonus cats) // upgrade MyFive Cash Rewards (5% CB monthly selectable cat) // US Bank Kroger (and family) World Elite Master Card(s) (5% CB Mobile Wallet)

Re: Amex lowering Apr on HYSA

The recent APY drops I can attest to.

Synchrony HYS - 4.545% > 4.30%
Capital One HYS  - 4.35% > 4.10%
AMEX HYS - 4.25% > 4.10%
Discover HYS - 4.16% > 4.10%

VMFXX 7 day SEC yield - 5.27% > 4.87%

But Chase Savings still holding strong at 0.01% APY
Thats notable right?

Re: Amex lowering Apr on HYSA

Was pretty bummed out when I got this eMail this morning...but a change to be expected. If this rate cut remains, I'd expect Amex to drop rates again to 4%ish before the end of the year.

Have been ignoring Citi's 4.30% APY, which I will now keep an eye on...but that'll probably drop soon, too.

NFCU has a 1 yr CD with 5.30% APY on a max $3,000 balance. Probably going to scoop one of those up before they drop that.

Re: Amex lowering Apr on HYSA

Las Colinas FCU requires 15 debit card transactions/month. Other FCUs require a similar or less amount on a high yield checking acct.

I remember a workaround for this being discussed here on the FF, but what is it again? Recurring transactions/transfers?

Re: Amex lowering Apr on HYSA

I don't know about a workaround. It does say point of sale, does that eliminates online purchases?

I did 50 in 60 days for a sub, but I'm not doing it longterm. Go to the movies, two tickets, popcorn, three transactions. Go to grocery, self check out, 3-4 transactions. They do add up quickly. The thing is, you're not using your cash back credit cards.

Btw, have you ever been to las Colinas? It's a shame some people have to live like that!

Re: Amex lowering Apr on HYSA

I'm going to miss the high savings rates. It's been nice having consistent low risk returns.
