Apply directly or one site

Hi is it better to apply directly with one lender or better to use a site that lets you see multiple offers at once? May be a dumb question but just want to hear the experts! My guess is its better to do a site like lendingtree etc so you can compare offers?

The only thing I can think is that the individual site might ask for more information and be able to give a more exact quote/offer - not sure if that really happens or not. For my student loan refinances, I just use an aggregator each time and then check whatever other option might not be on there.
