It is so confusing....why do we have to unfreeze a report for them to do a SP? Especially when we are current customers. I'm going into the Chase branch tomorrow...

Bank of America approved me for one of their credit cards earlier this year by online application. I tried to make a play, online, for one of their checking account sign up bonus.
But their online system responds that they cannot verify my identity and I must come in person to a BOA retail bank to open the account.
Does this make sense?
UPDATE:
I printed the BOA Sub I wanted to sign up for and the BOA screen that said it rejected my verification. Next, drove to the nearest BOA branch and spoke to a BOA banker.
The BOA banker said the Sub I pursued was a targeted offer. I got the link from a DoctorofCredit thread. They instead showed me the Sub offer targeted to me. It was 1/3 of the the original one. But I was okay with that.
The banker tried to manually open the account but could not because I had my Experian credit report frozen. The banker said they needed to do a soft pull and speculated that might have been the reason I failed to pass ID verification online. I didn't have the login info, to unfreeze Experian, on me and it was too late in the dad to go home and unfreeze it and come back.
Mean while I have an appointment to see the banker tomorrow after I unfreeze my Experian.
If having my Experian credit report frozen was the the reason for all this hassle, BOA could have saved alot of time and BS by saying :"YOU MUST UNFREEZE YOUR EXPERIAN CREDIT REPORT BEFORE APPLYING FOR AN ACCOUNT AT BANK OF AMERICA ACCOUNT"
UPDATE: 10/16/2020
I had to cancel my appointment with the BOA banker scheduled on 10/15/2020. Reapplied online, after unfreezing Experian.
The application was a success!!!!!!!!
@kremonis Dont feel bad BOA gave me a credit card and a mortgage but wont give me a checking and savings apparently because I have a savings account that I never used back in 2016 closed due to risk i literally deposited $200 cash and left it there they closed the account and sent me my money via cashiers check. They claim I wont be able to reopen an account until 2022. By that time I am not even sure I would even want an account. No one can tell me what risk I was at all. But apparently they had no issue giving me a credit card and the mortgage and even approved me for an auto loan.
@kremonis wrote:Adkins, why did you cross through Lexis Nexis or Sage Stream?
If I go in person, do I just ask them who they use for verification or just pull my report from the credit reporting agencies?
@kremonis I crossed through then because I couldn't remember Chex, and the PP had it listed before I posted it. I crossed through them so you'd know of them, but Chex seems to be the main one used for banking.
