Direct deposit coming early comes from the institution that you bank with sees the ACH and makes it available at the time. Gererally your employer is supposed to make an ACH request 72 hours in adanvce, however some payroll processors allow it much earlier in advance, I.e. 24 hours. it all depends on when your company sends the ACH xfer
1. There's no requirement of any "agreement" by the employer.
2. It applies to both government and employer-issued direct deposits.
3. Sometimes it can be even more than 2 days early. I've had direct deposits credited to me as many as 5 calendar days/3 business days early.
4. I don't know if one needs to be "desperate" to appreciate getting one's funds from 2 to 5 days early. I know I certainly appreciate it. (Arguably I'm one of the "desperate" ones, though )
