Sorry if this doesnt belong here, I tried in 2016 to join one of our very few local CU and was denied for CHEX report, however, I had reviewed my report the week before and it was clean. Now, fast forward 2 years, I applied again and again denied for CHEX. What could the problem be. The real thing that ticks me off is it a HP on exp. Score was fine at 764 so its not that. I will not try again. But afraid to try one of the others as I dont know the reasoning for two denials!! UGG, really want to join a CU to try and refinance my LC personal loan for a better rate.
Did you, after receiving the denial, get a copy of the credit report from CHEX, and review its current contents?
A denial of credit is considered, under the FCRA, as an "adverse action" which entitles you to send a copy of the denial letter to the CRA identified in the denial letter as having been used as part of the determination and receive a free copy of your current report from that CRA.
The intent of the statute is that you can then see exactly what the denying creditor saw, and then correct any errors with that CRA......
It is a local CU that you can go into and maybe ask manager or what have you?
Also, does your address completely match what is on your state ID?
I know that has caused people problems.
I've been denied bank accounts for Chex. I have nothing derogatory on my Chex report, but apparently my Chex score is very low because of the number of times that I've moved (it's reported as the number of address changes in the past 60 months). A stupid reason if you ask me. Punish people for moving frequently? Maybe it's a fraud thing but I think it's stupid.
Thanks to everyone for responding. I was just waiting on the letter, which, like I said I never received the first time. I get an automated email this afternoon around 430 that says " you previously applied and your application was approved at that time. Please come by any branch and sign your paperwork if you wish to open an account. " So, I called and s/w them and they told me that you applied in Dec 2016 and were approved, but never signed your paperwork. All you have to do is come in and give them your SS # and sign your pw to open any new account.
WTH I have 2 emails stating denied due to CHEX report. I will go in next week and hopefully all goes well.
wha wha wha wowzers whoo hoo?
