Chase $900 sign up bonus

I'm thinking about signing up for the checking/saving just to take advantage of this bonus offer. If I do so how long after receiving the bonus would it be okay to close the accounts?

The current terms, afaik, don't have a fee or clawback for closing after you get paid.

To play nice with EWS/Chase, 6 months. But it's not "required" to keep it open for that long.

On r/personalfinance, a poster called Chase after receiving their $900 to see how long they needed to wait until closing it out, and was told it was not  necessary to wait.  YMMV, so you could ask Chase yourself, or just wait a month.

Re: Chase $900 sign up bonus

Waiting 6 months means it doesn't report as an "early closure" on your ews which can lower your ews score and make it harder to open accounts in the future.

banks also probably look internally more favorably for future openings if you wait a bit before closing. I even take it a step further and do some debit card purchases so it's more legit.

That being said if you don't care about all that, Chase doesn't have a early account termination fee like some banks do so you can close as soon as you pull out the bonus.

Re: Chase $900 sign up bonus

I actually closed my accounts last Saturday because of the monthly fees. I got the checking bonus in November and the savings bonus in February.

Re: Chase $900 sign up bonus

You can close the account almost instantly without any clawback or issues at all.  I gave it an extra month after payout to determine where I wanted to place the extra amount.  P1 and P2, that's an extra $1800 in the pocket.  Even got young P3 the bonus.  The valuation outperforms the earnings on a typical CD.

The reason why you want to close out the account as quickly as reasonably possible, is to take advantage of it again in the future, once the cool down expires.  Chase is one of the largest and most generous out there, which is why I won't bank with them, but I will certainly utilize their welcome bonuses, and their CC welcome bonuses, over and over again.  They pay cash with the bank bonus, and provide us free vacations with the CC bonuses.

Highly recommended to use their services.  They are willfully offering.

$XXX,XXX in credit lines. First digit isn't a one or two.
4-5 weeks in free credit reward vacations, booked through 2028.
$X,XXX in bank rewards in only 12 months.
