I bank with Citibank and I just received an e-mail that I'm invited to apply for a Citibank Personal Loan; I even have a code to use. Is this much like a pre-approval? I recently did their credit card preapproval and got no hits.
My cards are all pretty much to the max with the exception of my new West Elm; 2500 CLI, current balance is 750. I know they're pretty strict there so I don;t know if this is worth exploring to pay down my cards. Thoughts?
YMMV of course, but Citi sends out "invitations to apply" that are NOT pre approvals.
IMO, you'll need to bring your scores up a bit more before they'll approve you. (If memory serves, you need at least a 660)
It is a marketing offer and not a solid pre-approval. Citi is can be very strict and if most of your cards are maxed out, it is a YMMV. But certainly up to you of course.
